The heat is coming from below
Memory foam and dense mattresses hold body heat. Even with cool sheets, that warmth builds through the night.
Most “cooling” bedding is reactive: it wicks sweat after you are already too warm. Outlast® technology, which grew out of NASA-funded research into phase-change materials, is proactive. Microscopic phase-change materials absorb excess body heat as you warm up, store it, and release it back when you cool down — buffering temperature swings before they wake you.
Pad, topper or protector?
- Mattress pad: a thin comfort and temperature layer that fits like a fitted sheet.
- Topper: thicker, changes the firmness of your bed.
- Protector: guards against spills and allergens — look for breathable options so it doesn’t trap heat.
Fit
Check your mattress depth and choose deep pockets with elastic all the way around so the pad stays put.
